The causes of diabetes are not clearly known at this time but scientists are leaning toward a cause that comes from the nervous system of the body. At this time, they only know that there are certain factors which may lead to diabetes... (Continued Below...)

(Continued from The Top of The Page...)

There is currently no one known cause for diabetes. However, if diabetes tends to run in a certain family then heredity will obviously one of the main causes of diabetes for that family. This may seem fairly obvious but it is a well known statistic that one fourth of all people who have a family history of diabetes will get the disease as well.

Other than genetics, one of the leading causes of diabetes is thought to be diet. Eating too much of anything can be harmful. The body generally needs a well balanced diet in order to remain healthy and to thrive. In particular, eating too much food can generally prevent the pancreas from performing its function of insulin secretion.

Over eating can lead to obesity. Obesity is also thought to be one of the major causes of diabetes. This is especially true when people get to be around the age of 40 or more. They are often diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (type 2 diabetes) and the cause is often diagnosed as being from an over consumption of food, leading to obesity. When there is too much fat in the body, insulin does not function properly.

One of the less common causes of diabetes is viral infections that affect the pancreas. Smoking and being over the age of 40 can also lead to type 2 diabetes. It should be noted that studies are ongoing and that other causes of diabetes are likely to surface in the future.

Whatever the cause may be, if you are diagnosed with diabetes then you will need treatment. One of the more important aspects of diabetes treatment includes getting the proper nutrition. The supplements that you can buy on this page can go a long way in helping to give your body the nutrients that it needs in order to fight diabetes.
